What's your job about?

Babcock provides engineering services in the marine sector; I assist in this by managing operational deficiencies. I provide engineering support to assist in the rectification of these deficiencies.

What's your background?

I grew up in Wellington, moved to Auckland for university and mostly studied aerospace papers at university. I initially started as an intern for the company in my third year of university. I have been working for Babcock for 2 years and in my current role for 6 months.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes, different backgrounds are important as they provide a team diverse range of perspectives allowing for creative problem-solving. The ability to problem solve and collaborate with a large team is important for this role.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

The problems that come across my desk are diverse and unique. Due to the type of work Babcock does you get experience working on a wide range of equipment.

What are the limitations of your job?

Some of the work requires a certain amount of secrecy and security when it’s being conducted, therefore you are not able to share all the neat aspects with your peers.

Do what you’re passionate about not what looks good, go easy on yourself it’s not the end of the world, and enjoy your life!
